A Day With My Mom

Last Saturday, I had a good time with my loving mom by spending the day watching movie and shopping some stuff for my pamangkin.  We saw CLOSER since she is not into suspense-drama like HIDE AND SEEK, which by the way the film that I have planned on watching first.  Anyway, CLOSER stars Julia Roberts as Anna, a photographer; Jude Law as Dan, a obituary-writer-turned-official-writer; Clive Owen as Larry, a dermatologist and Natalie Portman, on her first daring role, as Alice/Jane, an NY stripper.  The movie talks about love, sex, infidelity and honesty.  It’s quite fun watching such story.  It felt like I was reading a romance pocketbook — all talk, not much action.  The viewer should listen as the stars deliver their respective lines for it will answer all the questions that would possibly pop out of your mind.

Baldwin

Ooops… This is not about Alec, Daniel or even Stephen.
Well, last Saturday, i got to watch the movie RAY.
The film has clearly illustrated the life of Ray Charles Robinson (his fullname) thru Jamie Foxx’s
wonderful performance! Watching the film, you would really imagine how Charles’s life evolved with his dreams, family, heroin (yes, he was once addicted to heroin), women and what he had always loved — music.
For the title, from the moment he started playing the piano, there was only one brand that
the film had “advertised”, and it’s BALDWIN. Also, on the movie’s billing, one of the producers is Baldwin Entertainment.

77th Academy

Last night, i patiently watched the 77th Academy Awards ceremony.  The actors that proudly bagged their Oscar statuettes for the major categories are the ff:

Cate Blanchett - Actress in a Supporting Role - The Aviator
Morgan Freeman - Actor in a Supporting Role - Million Dollar Baby
Jamie Foxx - Actor in a Lead Role - Ray
Hilary Swank - Actress in a Lead Role - Million Dollar Baby
Clint Eastwood - Best Director and for Best Picture - Million Dollar Baby

These movie celebrities are all deserving for what they have won.  I haven’t seen all these fantastic movies yet except for The Aviator (last friday with my mom), which I think is also fantastic. Grabe. Kaya lang, ang haba nung movie — almost 3 1/2 hours!… If youre not into Biographies of known people, then, Don’t go for The Aviator!..Kasi baka ma-bore ka lang.  Nevertheless, it was a beautiful movie. As for Leonardo DiCaprio’s acting (playing the lead, Howard Hughes), I can say that this is his superb performance so far!..Ang galing nya sa movie. Isa lang ang comment ko sa kanya, it seems that his speaking voice doesn’t fit his over all character as an actor. Everytime na magdedeliver na sya ng lines, parang pambata ung boses. Pero over all, the film is very very beautiful.
For Cate Blanchett, she really deserves the Supporting Actress Award!.. Among Hughes’s leading ladies (because he is known for having relationships with then known celebrities), she definitely had the best performance in the movie playing Katharine Hepburn!  Compared to Kate Beckinsale who played Ava Gardner, Blanchett is better. Maybe because, mas matagal ung role nya dun sa movie. Yung kay Ava Gardner, sandali lang yung role nya kasi in reality, mas matagal ung relationship ni Hughes and Hepburn than ung kay Gardner.
Well, I’m looking forward to see this year’s Best Picture, Million Dollar Baby. I’m very very excited!
